MYRTLE BEACH S.C. – The Carolina League has announced that the Pelicans and Lynchburg Hillcats will play a doubleheader on June 16 as a makeup date for a game rained out in Lynchburg in early May. The Pelicans’ Dollar Hot Dog Night promotion has been expanded to include both games on that Tuesday evening.
The Pelicans and Hillcats had a pair of games postponed due to rain on May 5 and 6. Lynchburg took the only two games of what was originally slated to be a four-game series that week. The series was the only one scheduled to take place between the Pelicans and Hillcats at Lynchburg City Stadium in the first half of the 2009 season. The makeup game, therefore, will be played at BB&T Coastal Field as part of a four-game series from June 15-17, the Hillcats’ second visit to Myrtle Beach this year. The first of two seven-inning games will take place at 6:05 on the 16th with the second to follow shortly thereafter.
The doubleheader will also mark the return of the Pelicans’ wildly popular Dollar Hot Dog Night. With the addition of the second game, fans will be able purchase hot dogs for a dollar at any BB&T Coastal Field concession area during both games while supplies last. The day prior, in the series opener between the Pelicans and Hillcats, kids eat for free at BB&T Coastal Field. All Pelicans fans ages 12 and under will receive a coupon upon admission good for a free hot dog, bag of chips and drink.
Tickets are available for the four-game, three-day series with the Hillcats and for the Pelicans’ three-game set with the Frederick Keys that weekend which will wrap up the first half of the 2009 season For tickets, contact the Pelicans box office at (843)918-6000 or visit the Tickets page at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
