Biography:
- Signed by the Braves as an undrafted free agent on 6/1/2007 out of Western Nevada Community College
- Holds the distinction of being the final draft-and-follow player signed by the Braves before MLB did away with the practice
- High expectations greet Cole for his third year of professional ball, listed as the top left-handed pitcher and sixth best overall prospect in the Braves’ minor league system by Baseball America
2007
- Dazzled in his first professional season, appearing in 14 games (13 starts) between Danville and Rome and compiling a 1.17 ERA and a combined record of 5-2
- Struck out a stunning 31 hitters and walked two in three games from 7/13-7/25, going 2-0 and allowing just two hits
- No-hit Burlington for five innings in his final win of the season 7/25 and dropping his ERA to a season-low 0.59
- Named to the Appalachian League All-Star team
- Finished his time in Danville with a microscopic 1.08 ERA and .167 opponents’ batting average
- Moved up to Rome in early August and was equally as stingy on the mound, only allowing four earned runs across in 28 innings

- Earned his first win of the year in Rome on 6/4, not allowing an earned run in six innings vs. Charleston
- Struggled over a four game stretch from 6/9-7/9, allowing 15 the 32 total earned runs he allowed all year
- Matched a career high with 11 strikeouts in just six innings of work 7/31 vs. Greenville
- Only struck out fewer than four batters in a game twice with Rome: 7/3 vs. Asheville, three Ks in two and two-thirds innings and 7/20 vs. West Virginia, two Ks in two innings
- Earned an August promotion to Myrtle Beach, getting a win in his first appearance with the Pelicans, charged with four runs on nine hits over six frames in a 8/11 victory over Salem
- Struck out at least four hitters in every game on the Grand Strand
- Fared well against left-handed hitters, holding them to a .130 average with just one RBI
- Spun a seven-inning, complete game shutout win over Wilmington on 8/26, allowing just a pair of hits and striking out four
