Biography:
- Drafted in the 20th round of the 2007 draft out of East Tennessee State University
- Transferred to ETSU from Walters State (TN) Community College where he played with fellow Braves’ farmhand Stephen Shults
2007
- Played strictly in CF in his first year in the organization, posting a .245 average with three home runs and 23 RBI with the Danville Braves
- Drove in a season-high three runs while going 2-4 with a double and two runs scored 6/27 against Elizabethton
- Recorded a perfect 3-3 day 7/7 against the Bluefield Orioles, scoring two runs and walking once
- Equaled that 3-3 feat twice more in the season, including 8/11 against Burlington, adding a run scored and a run batted in
2008
- Brought home a career high five RBI on 4/20 against Savannah with three hits, including two triples, in five trips to the plate
- Two triples against Savannah 4/20 would end up being half of C.J.’s season total
- Recorded a perfect 4-4 day from the two spot in the order 5/26 against Hickory, driving in a run and scoring two more
- Monster day 6/13 against Columbus: 3-5, a double, a home run, four RBI and two runs scored
- Went 4-5 in the leadoff position with two runs and an RBI 7/26 versus Augusta
- Hit 55 points higher on the road in the South Atlantic League (.261) than in Rome (.205)
- Started hot: C.J. posted his best batting average month of the season in April (.268)
