Splash burst onto the scene in 1999 as the official mascot of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Ten years later he is still going strong! Since the Pelicans flew into the Grand Strand, Splash and his New Splash.jpgantics have been on display at each and every home game. His Iron Man-esque streak of consecutive games entertained is still intact. During the 2007 off-season, the biggest bird on the beach received an extreme makeover. Splash put in hour after hour in the gym to work on a more sculpted look. When he wasn't pumping iron in the gym you could find him running on the beach ala Rocky Balboa in preparation for Opening Day 2007. A trip to the plastic surgeon was also in order for the feathery friend. Once Splash recovered from his surgery he was ready to fly into the new era of Pelicans baseball. Finally, the moment was here! On Opening Night 2007 (Thursday, April 5th) the new Splash made a celebrity-style appearance and stunned the record breaking crowd of 6,074 fans, the largest crowd to ever watch a Pelicans home game. Splash leaped out of a limo, which was wheeled around the warning track and the crowd went wild! Even former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani attended the must-see event! Splash is back and he's better than ever!

Now 11 years old, Splash is still the clown of the ballpark. He has twice been ejected from a ballgame, but his lovable look allowed the umpires to forgive him. Splash warns fans to always keep an eye on your food and drinks as he’s always looking to sneak some ballpark goodies. If one of your hot dogs comes up missing check the big beak, it might just be hiding in there! He also reminds fans to bring their cameras to the game. The minute you take out the camera, Splash will be ready with that big smile.

Splash’s flock is huge, and it’s getting bigger everyday. All of the kids along the Grand Strand are diehard Splash fans, but it’s not just the kids. It’s the young and the young at heart that show their love for Splash and catch him at each and every Pelicans home game.

Deuce and Ump.jpgDeuce steps into his role as the Pelicans' on-field best friend fresh off as successful 2009 season. Part bat boy, part ball caddy, and all fun, the younger brother of the Dinger "The Home Run Dog" has been active at Pelicans games since the 2008 season.

The English yellow lab has mastered the art of delivering new balls to the Carolina League's finest umpires as well as his postgame victory lap around the bases. When he's not performing at Pelicans games, Deuce can normally be found napping either at home or in the Pelicans front office.
