Stan Hunter will serve his second season as the Pelicans Home Clubhouse Manager in 2009. Hunter brings a wealth of experience, as he is entering his 34th year as a clubhouse manager.
Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, Hunter got his start in baseball with the Charleston Charlies (AAA) as a bat boy back in 1975. The following season, Hunter took over as the visiting clubhouse manager. He held the post until 1983. In 1984, Stan became the "Clubbie" for the Tidewater Tides (AAA). After six season with the Tides, Hunter moved to Richmond and became the visiting clubhouse manager for the Richmond Braves (AAA - Atlanta). During his last season in Richmond, Stan married his lovely wife Glinda at the plate prior to a game.
In 1994, Stan realized his life-long dream of working in the big leagues. He was the clubhouse manager for the Cleveland Indians from 1994-1996.
Most recently, Stan was the clubhouse manager for the Norfolk Tides (AAA) from 1997-2005.
He currently resides in Myrtle Beach with his wife, Glinda and his five animals (three cats and two dogs). He recently completed his world-reknowned "Man" room, featuring "Stan's Place Pub" and memorabilia from a lifetime in baseball.
Stan has volunteered with Special Olympics for the past five season in Virginia Beach and he hopes to begin volunteering here on the Grand Strand. He is also an avid bowler and camper.
Little Known Fact: Stan holds a Professional Bowlers Association card. Further, Stan has thrown three perfect games (300).
